Sergei Chemezov, who heads Russia"s State Technology Corporation (Rostekhnologii), said last year that under the restructuring plan AvtoVAZ would start producing two new Renault, two Lada models, and a Nissan model in late 2011-2012.
"We plan to start the production of a new Lada car based on our own platform in late 2011. In 2012 we will start assembling Lada cars on the B0 platforms. In 2012-2013 we will launch production of Renault and Nissan cars on the same platform," AvtoVAZ President Igor Komarov said.
The company plans to triple output by 2020, to 1 million cars. 70% of them will be of the Lada brand.
The carmaker"s long-term business plan until 2020 will be discussed by the company"s board of directors on March 10.
The debt-saddled car giant, located in Togliatti in the Volga area, is known abroad for its Lada brand. Since it was established in 1970 as a joint project with Italian carmaker Fiat, it has made more than 25 million Lada cars, but
