The conference will be jointly chaired by Britain and Afghanistan.
"Representatives of 61 countries, including Russia, and seven international organizations are invited to the event," Andrei Nesterenko said.
"Our country, which is an active participant in peaceful efforts to stabilize Afghanistan, will be represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov," he added.
Russia has allowed transit of NATO military cargo and personnel into the war-torn Central Asian country via its territory, both overland and by air. The deal was signed on July 6, during U.S. President Barack Obama"s visit to Moscow.
In early December, Russia"s NATO envoy Dmitry Rogozin reaffirmed that the country could play an important role in supporting NATO operations in Afghanistan also by training personnel for the country"s police forces and even delivering small arms and light weapons for Afghan police.
Russia also actively contributes to fighting drug trafficking in Afghanistan.
