Israel"s Airports Authority on Tuesday launched...

According to The Haaretz, the UNI-PAS system uses biometric technology, enabling passengers to avoid the long lines currently experienced at Ben Gurion Airport.

Airports Authority Director General Kobi Mor said the new system was intended to make security checks more effective and "to serve as an alternative to the question-answer method currently in place."

To join the system, passengers need to sign into the system and provide biometric identification, after which they will receive a smart card to enable fast check-in during future travels.

The pilot system is being tested on a group of El Al frequent flyers.
